No going back on Ekpeyong, Oke – Magu

The acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, on Wednesday said he would not back down on the planned arrest of a former Director-General of the Department of State Services, Mr. Ita Ekpeyong; and a former DG of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Ayo Oke. Magu said nobody, no matter how highly placed, was above the law of the land. He said the commission has concrete evidence against the former DSS and NIA heads. The EFCC boss spoke after he attended the inauguration of the committee on recoveries of assets at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. “The law will take its course,” he said.

Kebbi Accountant-General, Dakingari, Bag 70years In Jail Over N1.6bn Fraud

The Court of Appeal, Kebbi Division has upturned the judgment of a Kebbi State High Court which discharged and acquitted a Kebbi State Accountant-General (AG), Mohammed Arzika Dakingari, on charges of conspiracy and obtaining by false pretence preferred against him and one other by EFCC. He, among other things allegedly used his office as the AG, Kebbi State for personal enrichment to the tune of N1.6billion. Dakingari was charged alongside Musa Yusuf, Managing Director, Beal Construction Nigeria Limited; a company owned by him (Dakingari) and used in award various contracts to himself. Dakingari’s stake in Beal Construction Limited is contrary to civil service regulation which forbids serving officers from owning businesses. Findings by the EFCC at the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, showed that Mohammed Bashir Mohammed, Anwal Sadat and Nasir Mohammed, all sons of the AG, are directors of the company, while two of his brothers, Abduallahi Mohammed and Habibu Moha

News of a youth corper having twins for me is false' - Governor Amosun

Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun yesterday broke his silence about the news of a lady on National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who was rumoured to have had twins for him in less than a year ago. The governor said the rumour gained so much buzz that his mother-in-law had to call him to confirm if what she heard about a ‘second wife’ having twins was true or not. Amosun who debunked the rumour as “concoction of idiots” at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta, during a town hall meeting of stakeholders for the 2018 Budget preparation, said no lady or girlfriend had twins for him. The meeting was organized by the state’s Ministry of Budget and Planning for the purpose of collecting the inputs of all stakeholders and build them into the preparation of the 2018 Executive Appropriation Bill but Amosun used the avenue to clear the air on rumours being circulated against him. At the convocation Ceremony if University of Lancaster, UK held on the 13th December 2017, a Nigerian postgraduate student distinguished himself by finishing with a distinction in Cyber Security at the top of his class and also bagged the Best dissertation Award at the Faculty of Science and Technology Award's Ceremony. Anthony Chukwudi Mazeli carted away the converted prizes given in recognition of quality work and exceptional research prowess to the Best student in the department.
