At least 44 West African migrants, including women and babies, were found dead in the Sahara desert this week after their truck broke down in arid northern Niger while on the way to Libya, Six survivors walked to a remote village where they said that 44 people, mostly from Ghana and Nigeria and including three babies and two other children, died of thirst, said Lawal Taher, the department head for the Red Cross in the Bilma region. - - - “The number of migrants who died in the desert is 44 for now,” said Rhissa Feltou, the mayor of Agadez, a remote town on the edge of the Sahara desert that has become the smuggling capital of Africa. Nigerians may start paying property rent on a monthly basis going by the latest resolution between the federal and state governments on the matter, OKECHUKWU NNODIM reports The clamour for the monthly payment of rent by clients in the housing sector received attention at the recently concluded sixth meeting of the National Council on Lands, Housing and Urban Development. The council is the highest gathering of senior officials from the federal and state governments, as well as stakeholders and experts in the built industry. At the meeting of permanent secretaries during the council, senior government officials from the 36 states and Federal Capital Territory, as well as those from the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing (Works/Housing sector) agreed to enact a law that would allow monthly rental payments across the country. Antoine Griezmann agrees personal terms to join Manchester United

Premier League campaigners Manchester United have reportedly agreed personal terms with French striker Antoine Griezmann to move to Old Trafford next season.
