Six die in Ogun auto crash

Six persons have died in an auto crash which occurred on Monday at Sagamu inter-change area along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The six persons, one male and five females, were a driver and passengers in a Nissan Quest sport utility commercial vehicle with number plate FKJ 297 AJ. The commercial vehicle was reportedly coming from the Lagos end when the incident happened. The Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, said the driver of the commercial vehicle was speeding and that the car rammed into a moving Iveco truck with number plate LND 902 XE. All the passengers in the Nissan Quest died, Akinbiyi said. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that it will not make any comment on the monies traced to former Minister of Petroleum, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke. This week, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said it had traced at least N47.2billion and $487.5million in cash and property to the former Minister. But PDP’s spokesperson, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, said the party would remain quiet on the allegations against Diezani and other members of the party, who were being tried for corruption. Over 200 Lawmakers Take Delivery Of Exotic Cars Which Costs N17m Each

Over 200 members of the House of Representatives have taken delivery of brand new exotic cars, though all 360 lawmakers have yet to receive their July salaries. On Sunday, the Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Mr. Abdulrazak Namdas, disclosed that over 200 members had been given Peugeot 508 series for “utility services.” Namdas stated that by the plan of the House, all 360 lawmakers would have taken delivery of their cars by December 31. Each of the vehicles cost N17m and will consume a total of N6.1bn to supply all 360 units. Namdas spoke further, “Over 200 have been supplied out of 360 and we are still getting more. Every member will get a car by the end of this year. Nigerian blogger arrested for allegedly defrauding UK-based activist of N2.2m

Apeh Peterhot a Benue born blogger, has been picked up by the Nigerian Police in Lagos for allegedly opening a fake Facebook account in the name of Queen Ann Ochoga and using it to defraud one Mr. Philip Agbese, to the tune of N2.2m. An innocent pregnant woman, Ann Johnson, whose name first name is also Anne, was implicated in the said transaction, as the blogger cunningly used her bank account details, under the pretence that he had issues with his BVN. With the fake account, he claimed to be a car dealer. As a philanthropist, Agbese thought it was wise to patronize a fellow Nigerian, not knowing that the face behind the account was actually Mr Apeh whom he had helped in the past. . After receiving the payment, Peterhot allegedly posted an obituary on Facebook, announcing the death of Anne, apparently to close the deal and to make Agbese believe that the person he transacted business with had died. .
