Why EFCC should return N2b recovered from ex-Niger state commissioner to us

Last week, the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) announced the discovery of N6b from the bank account of a former commissioner in Niger state after which the state government claimed the ownership of the slush funds.

A Facebook user, Moh'd Idrisu Ndakuru, said that the money does not belong to the state government but belong to Edati Local Government where Alhaji Liman Kantigi served as chairman for six years. We appreciate the effort of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) for discovering the money looted by former Chairman of Edati Local Government, Niger state from 2008 to 2014.

The money which discovered from the account of Alhaji Liman Kantigi, the former Chairman Edati Local Government and former commissioner of local government by EFCC, is not only the Niger state money but party of that money belong to Edati Local Government.

Kantigi spent six years has chairman and only seven months has commissioner in Niger state. The first four billion naira belongs to Niger state and the other two billions naira belongs to Edati local Government.

Alh Isah Liman Kantigi was the ALGON Chairman Niger state; he used his position to collect all federal allocation to the Edati Local Government that was between 120 million to 160 million naira every month. Therefore, the good people of Edati Local Government appeal to the EFCC and Niger state Government to return money to the Edati Local government account to help the local government on developmental project.
