Chaos At Jamb Office As Security Officer Threatens To Shoot Students

Some candidates who sat for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) had issues with their data capture. So they were asked to do data correction.

They were to pay into JAMB’s bank account and receive a PIN and printout that cannot be confirmed outside JAMB office.

Affected candidates said they were told to do the confirmation at JAMB office located at 11, Ojora Rd, Ikoyi, Lagos.

“Some people got here around 8am and were assigned numbers,” David Adesanya who was helping his brother solve the data issue told Newsroom today.

“But as more people arrived the venue to join the long queue, people became impatient as the queue didn’t seem to be moving. I think officials also stopped following assigned numbers. This led to a protest.

“During the protest, a security officer threatened to shoot one of the affected candidates.

“It would have been easier if they let cyber café operators handle this thing. I think this is the only office in Lagos where affected candidates can do the data correction.

“They had four systems here but only two are being used to attend to candidates. This made the process slower. I was unable to do what i came here for” he told us.

Officials told Adesanya and many others to return to the venue on Wednesday.
