Nigeria’s only individual Gold medalist till date, Chioma Ajunwa-Okpara, has been decorated as an Assistant Commissioner of Police, by the Police Service Commission. The event took place at the Police College in Ikeja. The Promotion from a Chief Suprintendent of Police, was coming only after a week of Ajunwa-Okpara, launching a foundation to discover new stars that will take the Nigerian nation to new heights. The events which was held in Abuja was reportedly snubbed by top government officials but the strong lady of sports has remained dogged and said she will take sports to a height nobody can imagine. A delighted Director General of Chioma Ajunwa-Okpara Foundation, Prince Henry Amike, himself a top notch athlete in his days, said the promotion of Chioma, was to showcase her professionalism, both in the police and the service of the nation.

Elderly Couple Strangled In Osun

The police in Osun on Sunday said unknown assailants strangled to death an elderly couple in Gbongan area of the state. The spokeswoman of the police in the state, Mrs Folashade Odoro, said in a statement on Sunday that their bodies was found at about 11 am at their residence in Gbongan. Odoro said the son of the couple, Caleb Akanbi, reported the death of his parents to the police after he found them strangled. “When police got to the scene of the incident, Mr Reuben Akanbi, 70, and Mrs Victoria Akanbi, 68, who lived in an isolated house were found dead with violence marks on them. “The crime is suspected to have been carried out overnight and the body of the deceased couple had been removed and deposited at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital for autopsy. “Police special detectives had, however, been deployed to fish out the killers, ” she said.

72 Year Old Man Shot His 28-year-old Wife In The Face Because 'she Told Him He Didn't Satisfy Her'

72-year-old Clarence White who got fed up of his wife complaining about his inability to satisfy her sexually or financially ended up pulling the trigger on her. The man is said to have grabbed a 22-caliber handgun and shot his much-younger wife in the face at their Bronx home on Thursday morning. Sources told the New York Daily News that the shooting followed an argument between White and his 28-year-old wife over her growing dissatisfaction with his inability to satisfy her financially or sexually. Responding officers who were called to the scene found Dominique White around 8:40 a.m. sitting on the floor in a hallway of their home on Glebe Ave. in Parkchester. The young woman was shot in the right cheek and was taken to Jacobi Medical Center where she remained in critical but stable condition on Friday, while the suspect was arrested by the Police. Aisha Buhari, wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, says the health of her husband is not as bad as being perceived. Not until Tuesday, May 2, President Buhari was not seen in public for almost two weeks. His absent from the last couple of Federal Executive Council meetings held at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, also triggered speculation that the president’s health may be very bad, even after his return from the UK for medical vacation.
